MP William Kamket in Mourning After Losing 13-Year-Old Son
Tiaty Member of Parliament William Kamket is going through a painful period after the death of his 13-year-old son, Bill Ballot, who passed away on Tuesday, March 17.
The heartbreaking news has left the family, friends, and close associates in deep sorrow as they struggle to come to terms with the loss of a young life.
According to early reports, the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death have not yet been made public.
This has left many people with unanswered questions, even as they continue to send messages of sympathy and support to the grieving family. The sudden nature of the tragedy has only made the situation more difficult for those close to them.
The sad news was confirmed by Antonellah Kakuko, a digital strategist linked to the ruling party. In her message, she expressed deep sorrow and extended her condolences to the family, especially to Immaculate Kassait, who is both the wife of the MP and Kenya’s Data Commissioner.
In her emotional tribute, Kakuko spoke about faith and strength during difficult times. She prayed for the family to find comfort in God and encouraged them to remain strong despite the heavy loss.
She described the young boy as a light that will continue to shine in the hearts of those who knew him, adding that his memory will live on even after his passing. Her message reflected the grief felt by many Kenyans who have followed the story.
William Kamket has had a long and active political career. He first entered Parliament in 2004 and served until 2007.
After some time away, he made a comeback in 2017 and has continued to represent the people of Tiaty Constituency in Baringo County up to now. Over the years, he has built a reputation as a vocal and outspoken leader.
Apart from his role in the National Assembly, Kamket also served as the Speaker of the Baringo County Assembly between 2013 and 2017.
His leadership during that period played a key role in shaping the county’s legislative processes. He was elected on a KANU ticket and has remained a prominent political figure in the region.
In recent months, Kamket has become widely known for strongly defending the government of William Ruto. He has openly supported the President, often speaking out against critics and urging unity among leaders.
One of his most talked-about statements came on January 5 last year during an interdenominational church service held in Kerio Valley, Elgeyo Marakwet County.
The event was attended by William Ruto and other leaders. During his speech, Kamket strongly criticised those opposing the President, warning that continued attacks could lead to unexpected political responses.
He even referred to the long rule of former President Daniel arap Moi, who led the country for 24 years. Kamket suggested that leaders understand the political strategies that could allow a sitting president to remain in power beyond expectations, remarks that sparked debate across the country at the time.
As the MP and his family deal with their personal loss, tragedy has also struck a nearby region. In neighbouring West Pokot County, two people lost their lives following a serious road accident in Makutano town, Kapenguria.
Reports indicate that a lorry carrying clinker from Sebit Cement lost control on Tuesday night, causing a devastating crash.
The truck is said to have rammed into several vehicles along the road before knocking down electrical lines and eventually crashing into a local supermarket. The scene was chaotic, with property damaged and people injured.
Authorities confirmed that two individuals, including a staff member working with the West Pokot County government, died as a result of the accident.
Several others were seriously injured and rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. Emergency responders worked through the night to manage the situation and assist victims.
These two tragic events — the loss of a young boy and the fatal accident — have cast a dark mood over the region, reminding many of how sudden and painful life can be.
As messages of condolence continue to pour in, Kenyans from different walks of life are standing in solidarity with the affected families, offering prayers and support during this difficult time.
