In a dramatic incident at Nakuru War Memorial Hospital, Nakuru County MCAs stormed the facility and took action after a court ruling regarding the hospital’s ownership dispute.
The MCAs, along with county officials, forcibly broke the chains securing the hospital’s gate and proceeded to clean up the neglected grounds, which included slashing overgrown grass and clearing bushes.
This event followed a prolonged legal battle between the Nakuru County government and the hospital’s management over the ownership of the land the hospital occupies.
The conflict intensified when the hospital’s management was accused of forging lease documents to extend their tenure on the 25-acre property.
Despite multiple court orders being issued to maintain order and resolve the matter, the county government took action by taking over the hospital and transferring patients to nearby facilities.
The hospital had been operating for over 100 years but was forced to shut down temporarily amid the dispute.
The situation has also raised concerns over the disregard of court orders, as Chief Justice Martha Koome expressed alarm at the police’s failure to enforce rulings related to the hospital’s ownership.
This ongoing tension not only affects the hospital’s operations but also denies crucial healthcare services to the public in Nakuru.
