Hanifa Adan Lands New Radio Job as Host of The Generation Report
Prominent activist and journalist Hanifa Adan has secured a new media role after being unveiled as the newest host of The Generation Report, a weekly current affairs programme on Radio Generation.
The show airs every Monday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, where Hanifa will now be working alongside co-host Triciah Wayua.
In her new position, Hanifa is expected to bring her strong background in youth activism, governance issues, and political reporting to the airwaves.
Her role will involve delivering detailed news roundups, offering analysis on major political developments, and helping listeners understand the top stories shaping Kenya and the wider world.

Hanifa’s activism journey began attracting public attention in 2022, when she boldly highlighted the longstanding drainage crisis in Korogocho, the Nairobi informal settlement where she was born and raised. For decades, residents had struggled with poor drainage and flooding, but her efforts helped shine a national spotlight on the issue.
Her campaign eventually caught the attention of Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, bringing renewed focus to the concerns of Korogocho residents and demonstrating the power of youth-led advocacy.
Since then, her activism has grown far beyond community issues. She has been actively involved in anti-abduction protests, campaigns against femicide, youth mobilisation drives, and wider social justice movements. Her voice has remained particularly strong on issues affecting women, vulnerable families, and marginalised communities.
Despite her popularity, Hanifa has not been free from public criticism and controversy. During the 2024 protests, some youth criticised her after she advised demonstrators against storming State House, arguing that the move could lead to unnecessary violence and loss of life.
She also faced allegations related to the reported mismanagement of Ksh30 million, funds that were said to be intended for supporting victims of the protests. However, Hanifa publicly clarified that she was not responsible for handling the money directly.
Instead, she explained that her role was limited to verifying individual cases and sharing supporting documentation to ensure genuine victims were identified.
Her clarification helped calm part of the public debate, although the issue remained widely discussed online.
Hanifa’s strong online presence continues to be one of her biggest tools in shaping public opinion.
