Mercedes Among Cars Up for Auction with Values From Ksh22,000; How to Bid

Mercedes Among Cars Up for Auction with Prices Starting at KSh 22,000: How Kenyans Can Apply

Kenyans now have a rare opportunity to purchase vehicles—some of them high-end models like Mercedes-Benz—at relatively low starting prices.

This follows a public auction announcement made by the Business Registry Service through the Office of the Official Receiver.

The auction is part of an ongoing liquidation process involving a company whose assets, including a fleet of vehicles, are being sold to recover value.

Through this exercise, interested buyers across the country are being invited to submit bids, with some vehicles having starting (forced sale) values as low as KSh 22,000.

Wide Range of Vehicles Available

The auction includes a diverse selection of vehicles, giving potential buyers a chance to choose from both everyday and luxury models.

Some of the notable cars listed include the Mercedes-Benz S280, Mercedes-Benz C250, Volkswagen Golf, Volkswagen Amarok, Nissan NP200, and the Dodge Nitro SXT.

Some of these vehicles are listed with surprisingly low guide prices. For example, the Nissan NP200 has a forced sale value of KSh 22,000, while the Mercedes-Benz C250 is listed at KSh 30,000.

The Volkswagen Golf is priced at KSh 75,000, and the Volkswagen Amarok at KSh 90,000.

At the higher end of the list are vehicles such as the Mercedes-Benz MB917 and the Volkswagen Passat, each with a forced sale value of KSh 640,000. However, these figures should not be mistaken for final selling prices.

Important Note on Pricing

Although the listed prices may appear extremely attractive compared to normal market rates, they are only indicative values meant to guide bidders.

The final cost of each vehicle will depend on the bidding process, meaning prices could rise significantly depending on demand and competition.

This type of sale is conducted through a competitive tendering process, where the highest bidder ultimately secures the vehicle.

Auction Terms and Conditions

According to the notice, all interested bidders must pay a refundable deposit equivalent to at least 10 percent of the reserve price for each vehicle they wish to bid on. This deposit acts as a commitment fee and is returned to unsuccessful bidders.

It is also important to understand that all vehicles will be sold on an “as is, where is” basis. This means buyers will purchase the cars in their current condition, without any guarantees, warranties, or after-sale support.

As a result, bidders are strongly encouraged to inspect the vehicles carefully before submitting their offers.

Inspection Locations and Timeline

Potential buyers are allowed to physically inspect the vehicles before bidding. Inspections are open during normal working hours—from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm—at designated yards.

These include locations along Lusaka Road in Nairobi, as well as depots in Mombasa and Nakuru.

This inspection period gives bidders a chance to assess the condition of the vehicles and make informed decisions before placing their bids.

How to Submit a Bid

Interested participants can access the tender documents free of charge. These documents are available for download from the official Business Registry Service website as well as the government’s procurement portal.

Once completed, bid documents must be submitted before the deadline of May 7, 2026, at 10:00 am. After this deadline, the bids will be opened publicly in a transparent process.

The Office of the Official Receiver has clearly stated that late submissions will not be accepted under any circumstances. Additionally, all bids must be quoted in Kenya Shillings and should remain valid for a period of 90 days from the closing date.

Final Thoughts

This auction presents a unique chance for Kenyans to acquire vehicles—some of them premium models—at potentially affordable prices.

However, interested buyers should approach the process carefully by inspecting the vehicles, understanding the terms, and preparing competitive bids to increase their chances of success.
