‘Niko Kadi’ Frontliner Ademba Allans Hints at 2027 Political Bid
Ademba Allans, the face behind the fast-growing ‘Niko Kadi’ youth movement, has dropped strong hints that he could be on the ballot in Kenya’s 2027 General Election.
His remarks, shared on April 27 through his social media platform on X (formerly Twitter), have sparked fresh conversations among young voters about leadership and political participation.
In his message, Ademba did not make a direct declaration but instead issued a challenge to Kenyan youth.
He urged them to take part in the ongoing voter registration exercise being conducted by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
According to him, many young people are yet to register, even as the deadline for the Continuous Voter Registration process draws closer.
He emphasized the urgency of the situation, noting that only a short window remained before registration closes.
Using a persuasive tone, Ademba told young people that if they had come across his video, it likely meant they had not yet registered, and time was quickly running out.
Ademba then tied his political ambitions to the success of this registration push. He promised that if at least 300,000 new voters sign up before the deadline, he will publicly declare the specific elective seat he intends to contest in 2027.
This condition has added momentum to his campaign, as supporters rally to meet the target. At the same time, he has set an even more ambitious overall goal of 2.5 million new voters, showing the scale of influence he hopes the youth can achieve.
When pressed further about his political plans, Ademba remained measured but firm, stating that he would make his final announcement by Tuesday. His approach suggests a strategy aimed at mobilizing youth participation before fully stepping into the political arena.
Ademba has already been actively involved in national conversations, particularly through his support for former Chief Justice David Maraga.
He has openly backed Maraga’s presidential ambitions under the United Green Movement (UGM) and has been spotted accompanying him during the “Ukatiba Caravan,” a civic engagement initiative focused on constitutional awareness and leadership reform ahead of the 2027 elections.
The ‘Niko Kadi’ movement itself began as a simple but powerful online challenge encouraging young people to register as voters. What started as a hashtag on social media has grown into a nationwide campaign, reportedly mobilizing over one million youth so far.
The long-term target is even more ambitious, with organizers aiming to register up to 15 million young voters who could significantly shape the outcome of future elections.
Ademba has also used the movement to call out political leaders, at one point accusing President William Ruto of “intellectual theft” after the popular slogan “Niko Kadi” was adopted in official messaging.
Despite the growing attention, Ademba has consistently maintained that the movement must remain independent and driven by ordinary citizens.
He has repeatedly warned politicians against attempting to take control of or fund the initiative, insisting that its strength lies in its grassroots nature.
Meanwhile, Ademba is not alone in signaling political ambitions among Kenya’s youth. Other young leaders are also stepping forward ahead of the 2027 elections. Among them is Billy Mwangi, who gained national attention following his abduction on December 21, 2024.
Mwangi has since declared his intention to run for the Embu County senatorial seat under the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), which is associated with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Another emerging voice is Wanjira Wanjiru, who has also hinted at a possible political bid. She has been vocal in pushing for a shift away from tribal-based politics, advocating instead for leadership rooted in social justice, inclusivity, and respect for human rights.
As the 2027 elections slowly take shape, it is becoming increasingly clear that Kenya’s youth are not just preparing to vote—they are also preparing to lead.
