Large crowds gathered early Tuesday morning at Kenyatta University Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue to pay their final respects to beloved TikTok star Brian Chira.
Despite morning rain showers, thousands of Chira’s friends and fans began arriving from as early as 7am, long before his body was prepared for viewing. By 9am, so many people had turned up that the number swarming the Kenyatta University Funeral Home swelled to thousands.
Chira, who gained a massive online following through his comedic videos on TikTok, had clearly touched the lives of many who came to offer their condolences. Those unable to see the body in person paid tribute by sharing fond memories and good times they had with Chira on social media.
According to a previous statement by Chira’s manager Baba Talisha, there would be no public viewing of the body once it left the morgue. Still, the massive early turnout at the funeral home demonstrated just how beloved a figure Chira had become.
Fans remained undeterred even as morning rains fell, underscoring the deep impact Chira had through his online videos in bringing laughter and joy to so many. After one last viewing, his body would be transported to Githunguri for burial, but the outpouring of grief and remembrance lives on in the countless lives he touched. Chira’s online legacy as an creator will endure through the happiness he spread across digital platforms.
