“ Sherehe Isikufanye Beggar” Kamene Goro Advises Women to Avoid Begging for Drinks in Clubs

TV host Kamene Goro recently urged women to refrain from embarrassing themselves by begging for drinks when clubbing. During her breakfast radio show, Kamene spoke about an encounter her DJ husband Bonez had at a friend’s party recently.

According to Kamene, a woman approached Bonez and directly requested he buy her a drink because she did not have money of her own. This incident highlighted an issue Kamene feels strongly about – women attending social events without sufficient funds.

She advised that broke women should rather stay at home than lower their dignity by begging in clubs. No man will give anything for free, Kamene warned, implying the women may feel compelled to offer sexual favors in return for drinks.

Kamene’s comments struck a nerve with many listeners. She pointed out how such behavior puts women in dangerous situations and said the carefree partying should not reduce anyone to begging. Independence and being able to pay one’s own way is important.

Many social media users showed support, sharing stories of women endlessly asking for alcoholic favors. Comments agreed it was unacceptable and women must learn to budget properly for a night out or stay in.

Kamene has previously emphasized the need for high standards in relationships. She refuses calls after 8pm and doesn’t entertain random people, wanting to give her time to those truly worthy. This displays her belief in maintaining self-respect.

While meant to encourage financial responsibility, some felt Kamene’s remarks unfairly blamed women alone. However, her overall message of empowerment and avoiding dependence resonated with those wanting to see a reduction in demeaning behavior in clubs.

As Kenya continues advancing women’s rights, open discussions around financial independence and reducing behaviors that compromise dignity can only be seen as positive for society.
