Following weeks of increasingly tense political rallies across western Kenya, where rival supporters have traded chants, heckles and accusations, emotions were already running high before the Linda Mwananchi brigade arrived in Bungoma.
Previous campaign tours had witnessed isolated incidents of stone-throwing, disruption attempts and heated verbal exchanges between rival political camps, leaving security officers on high alert.
As leaders from both camps took turns addressing supporters, the atmosphere became increasingly charged. The TUTAM politician reportedly mocked the Linda Mwananchi movement, accusing it of making promises it could not deliver.
Supporters responded with loud chants, whistles and competing slogans, creating a noisy standoff that threatened to interrupt the rally.
Then, in a completely fictional twist worthy of an action movie, the Linda Mwananchi politician suddenly sprinted toward the stage, launched himself nearly 20 feet into the air, performed an incredible Jet Lee-style spinning kick and struck the stunned TUTAM politician with what spectators jokingly described as a “high-voltage flying kick.”
The kick allegedly sent the politician stumbling backwards before he regained his footing and sprinted away from the rally grounds.
According to the humorous version of events, he raced across nearby farms before disappearing into a thick sugarcane plantation in Bungoma as thousands of supporters burst into laughter and cheers.
Eyewitnesses claimed the politician ran so fast that even his security team struggled to keep up, while others joked that only the rustling sugarcane leaves could reveal his hiding place.
