During a recent interview highlighting her charitable works, Akothee opened up about 24-year-old Makadia’s educational pursuit over four years abroad. She recalled flying with her daughter at age 18 to find suitable housing together in France. Though it was an emotionally difficult transition, Akothee had full trust in the character she instilled in Makadia.
For the duration of Makadia’s degree program, Akothee committed significant financial resources to her daughter’s future. Wisely banking 3.2 million Kenyan shillings annually into Makadia’s personal account, Akothee essentially gave her full autonomy over the funds. However, this freedom came with a stern message – the money was solely for education expenses.
Should Makadia indulge an alternate path risking her academic goals, she would be directly accountable. With this weighty responsibility, Makadia demonstrated unwavering focus and work ethic to repay her mother’s investment. She has since graduated with Akothee’s support and is engaged to be married.
Through opening up her personal sacrifices, Akothee hoped to emphasize the rewards of dedication to one’s dreams despite challenges. She feels immense pride in Makadia cementing herself as the most serious and stable of her children through higher education attained independently abroad.
