A 6-week-old baby named Ezra Mansoor was tragically mauled to death by the family’s dog while sleeping in his crib.
Little Ezra, fighting bravely, passed away on Thursday, six days after the sudden attack, as he battled critical injuries including brain bleed and swelling, according to ABC 7.
First-time parents Chloe and Mark Mansoor are heartbroken by the tragic loss of their son. Chloe expressed, “Being his mom was the greatest honor and the most rewarding experience I’ve ever had.”
Expressing their disbelief, the couple revealed they had never fathomed their child’s safety being jeopardized. Chloe emphasized the unpredictability of the situation, stating, “It could have been any dog at any time, completely unprovoked, no matter what the history is.”
Despite their grief, they aim to offer guidance to others in safeguarding their children. “We urge everyone not to underestimate any situation, even the most mundane moments hold significance. Our hearts go out to all families affected. Ezra was dearly cherished by all, and the grieving process will endure for a lifetime,” Chloe shared.
Following the tragic incident, authorities transferred the family dog implicated in the attack to a nearby animal center for evaluation. Concurrently, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office has initiated an investigation into the matter to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Amidst the sorrowful circumstances, they extend their wish for increased vigilance in safeguarding children. “Every moment holds significance; let’s not overlook any aspect of our children’s safety,” she urged. “Our prayers go out to all families affected. Ezra was deeply cherished by all, and the grieving journey will be lifelong,” she concluded.
In a heartfelt gesture, the Mansoor family has decided to preserve baby Ezra’s legacy by generously donating his organs to assist other infants in need.
Chloe disclosed that contributing to the preservation of life amidst their profound grief has provided solace during this challenging period.
