Three police officers and a civilian arrested with illegal wildlife goods on Saturday by Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officers at a roadblock in Kitengela.
According to reports, KWS officers had been tracking the suspects from Eldoret, culminating in their arrest in Kitengela following a tip-off.
The suspects, identified as Richard Kipleting and Philip Lupanga, both police constables, along with Ben Kiplang’at Koskei, connected to a senior politician from Eldoret, and Charles Nzuki, a civilian, were driving an old Subaru vehicle with registration number KAZ 604 when they were intercepted.
The suspects were found in possession of five tusks weighing a total of 29 kilograms valued at Ksh. 2.9 million.
