Amidst a large and increasingly tense protest against the newly proposed finance bill, police have shot a protester, escalating the already volatile situation. The demonstration, which drew thousands to the streets, was initially marked by loud but peaceful expressions of dissent. However, the atmosphere grew heated as protesters clashed with law enforcement, leading to several skirmishes throughout the day. Eyewitnesses report that the altercation that led to the shooting began when a group of protesters attempted to breach a police barricade, resulting in a chaotic scene where officers used tear gas and batons in an effort to disperse the crowd.

The identity and condition of the shot protester have not been officially confirmed, but emergency medical teams were seen providing urgent care before transporting the individual to a nearby hospital. The incident has sparked immediate outrage among the protesters, with many condemning the police for what they perceive as excessive use of force. Social media is already flooded with videos and messages calling for justice and accountability, further galvanizing the movement against the finance bill.

Officials have urged calm and restraint, with city leaders and police spokespeople promising a thorough investigation into the incident. They stressed the importance of maintaining order and safety for all participants and bystanders. However, the shooting has only intensified the anger and frustration among the demonstrators, many of whom argue that the finance bill unfairly targets the working class and exacerbates economic inequalities.

As night falls, the situation remains highly volatile. Protesters have set up makeshift barricades and continue to occupy key areas of the city, while police forces maintain a heavy presence, prepared for further confrontations. Leaders of the protest have called for an immediate cessation of police violence and have organized a candlelight vigil to honor the injured protester. The coming hours will be critical in determining whether the unrest will escalate or if a path to dialogue and de-escalation can be found.
