President Ruto Issues Immediate Directives In Response To Gen Z Demands

President William Ruto has issued Immediate Directives in response to Gen Z demands against his government’s spending as they aim to adopt austerity measures in government.

Speaking during the Nation Address in Statehouse ahead of his planned X engagements with Gen Z youths on X, formerly Twitter, President Ruto issued directives to be implemented immediately.

The Head of State also said that he has appointed an independent task force to carry out audit of our public debt and report to the government in the next 3 months for the next actions.

As austerity measures, the President directed that the number of state advisors reduced by 50%  in a bid to reduce the government expenditure. In addition renovation budget across government facilities will also be reduced by 50%.

The President also directed that fourty seven institutions that are overlapping in various ministries to be closed in order to reduce on expenditure. This means some will be dropped while others will be conjoined in others.

After uproar by the Gen Z on the government officials participation in harambees, the President has directed that all public servants will not participate in Harambees moving forward.

Except only for the security agencies, purchase of new motor vehicles in govt suspended for 12 months as the government tries to save on expenditure.

However, President Ruto also announced that he will make several cabinet changes after the X space engagement with the Gen z on X.

The President alsonsaid that to fund the programmes in the country, the government will propose abudget cut of Ksh 177 billion  to National assembly and borrow the difference which will be used in these projects.

“The money that we will borrow will be used to fund some critical gov’t services like funding the JSS intern teachers, funding milk stabilisation programme, reviving stalled projects across the country.”

“This includes fertiliser subsidy programme, settling debts owed to coffee farmers, enabling public-owned sugar mills to pay debts to sugarcane farmers.”
