Two people have been arrested in Huruma, Nairobi, after they reportedly tried to bribe DCI officers.

Jama Hirbo and Tasu Hirbo were taken into custody on charges of attempting to bribe officers from the Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters.

The suspects were caught red-handed on [specific date] in Huruma, Nairobi County, offering Sh50,000 in a bid to secure the release of human trafficking victims detained at Isinya Police Station in Kajiado County.

According to a police statement, the bribe was intended to influence the officers to release the victims, who were being held as part of an ongoing investigation into human trafficking activities.

The officers, however, acted promptly, arresting the suspects and seizing the bribe money as evidence.

The suspects have been transferred to Muthaiga Police Station for further processing and will face charges related to bribery and interference with justice.

This arrest underscores the DCI’s commitment to combating corruption and ensuring the integrity of ongoing investigations.
