The Kenya High Commission in London has issued an urgent advisory for Kenyan citizens residing in the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland to remain vigilant amidst severe social unrest across several cities.
The advisory, released on Tuesday, August 6, comes in response to the most intense rioting in the UK in 13 years.
The unrest began on July 30 following the stabbing deaths of three young girls in Southport on July 29.
The violence escalated when masked anti-immigrant demonstrators attacked a hotel housing asylum seekers in Rotherham.
This incident triggered further skirmishes at far-right rallies in Liverpool, Manchester, and Bristol.
The riots have seen demonstrators clashing with police, looting shops, and even throwing petrol bombs in Belfast.
Nearly 400 individuals have been arrested since the unrest began.
In light of these developments, the Kenya High Commission is urging Kenyans in the UK to be cautious of their movements and adhere to guidance from local authorities.
The commission also advises Kenyans to register with the High Commission via its website for updates and support.
For those in emergencies, the High Commission has provided contact information: email info@kenyahighcom.org.uk or immigration@kenyahighcom.org.uk, and phone +4420 7636 2371.
The commission continues to monitor the situation closely and provide assistance as needed.
