A NEMA official revisiting a Nairobi street food cookery highlights ongoing concerns about hygiene in these popular spots.

In a previous video that circulated widely, street vendors selling smokies and eggs were shown preparing food in extremely unsanitary conditions.

Their makeshift kitchens, often located in back alleys, were filled with grime, unwashed utensils, and contaminated surfaces.

Such scenes have triggered serious concerns among the public, raising questions about food safety standards in street food establishments across Nairobi.

Despite awareness campaigns and visits by authorities, many street vendors continue to operate in unsanitary conditions.

The allure of street food lies in its affordability and convenience, but it poses significant health risks when hygiene is neglected.

The growing demand has unfortunately led some vendors to prioritize profit over cleanliness, endangering the health of countless consumers.

The situation underscores the need for stricter enforcement of health regulations by agencies like NEMA and the Public Health Department.

Regular inspections, training on hygiene practices, and awareness campaigns are crucial in ensuring that vendors maintain clean environments.

For customers, it is important to be vigilant and choose food stalls that observe proper sanitation standards, as health should never be compromised for the sake of a quick meal.
