President William Ruto recently found himself in the spotlight after a late-night statement from lawyer Danstan Omari raised concerns about the ongoing tensions within the government.
Omari, representing various petitioners, highlighted a series of legal challenges against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s potential impeachment.
According to Omari, the process is being mishandled, and he questioned the constitutionality of the impeachment proceedings due to alleged bias by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula.
Omari also warned that Gachagua’s impeachment could severely harm the political stability of the administration.
His comments indicated that internal strife, especially from MPs pushing for Gachagua’s ouster, might undermine Ruto’s government.
The petitions claim that necessary legal processes, such as public participation, were ignored, raising concerns about the integrity of the proceedings.
Moreover, Omari criticized Ruto’s governance, stating that public funds were being mishandled and urging the president to take stronger measures to fight corruption.
He insisted that unless the administration curbed corruption, it would continue to erode public trust.
These statements have fueled further debate about the growing tensions within the highest levels of Kenya’s government.
