Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has finally disclosed the real reason behind his removal from office.
Speaking at Tetu Catholic Church on Sunday, January 5, Gachagua explained that his dismissal was driven by his decision to speak the truth and confront the president for misleading Kenyans.
He revealed that during his first year in office, he initially believed they were working towards the same goals. However, he later realized that many promises made to the public were not being fulfilled.
“We went to Ruring’u and assured people the stadium would be completed, but two years have passed, and nothing has been done.
There are still no good roads, no clean water, no medicine in hospitals, and our job seemed to be lying to Kenyans every day,” Gachagua stated.
The former DP added that his troubles began when he warned the president against continuing to deceive the public. According to him, the move to oust him was set in motion after he chose to speak the truth.
During his speech, Gachagua also praised the Catholic bishops for standing firm and speaking out against injustices.
He applauded them for being the voice of the people and urged them to continue their work as the moral compass of the nation.
“We are grateful to our bishops for standing with Kenyans. When everyone else stays quiet, the church remains the voice of truth. Please continue speaking out,” Gachagua urged.
His impeachment process started on October 1, 2024, when Kibwezi West MP Eckomas Mwengi Mutuse filed a motion against him.
The MP accused Gachagua of 11 offenses, including undermining the authority of both the president and the cabinet.
The motion was later passed with overwhelming support, as 282 members of parliament voted in favor of his removal.
