Kenyan police officers currently on a peacekeeping mission in Haiti have reached out to their loved ones and fellow Kenyans with heartfelt messages.
In videos shared by the National Police Service (NPS) on Friday, January 24, the officers reassured everyone that they were safe and fully dedicated to their mission in the Caribbean nation.
They extended greetings to their families, urging them to continue praying for their safety and success.
One female officer emotionally shared her message: “I want to send my love and greetings to my mother, father, husband, and daughter.
Please keep us in your prayers, and we promise to return home safely.” Another officer proudly stated, “To the people of North-Eastern Kenya, especially Garissa, know that you are well represented. Your son is here, doing his duty.”
Another officer sent encouragement to all Kenyans, saying, “My fellow countrymen, we are doing well here. Please continue praying for us as we work hard to fulfill our mission. We send you all our love and greetings.”
These updates come just a few days after an additional contingent of 217 police officers departed Kenya for Haiti.
The group, flagged off by Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen on Sunday, January 19, arrived in Haiti aboard a Kenya Airways flight. Upon landing, the officers, dressed in full combat gear and armed for their mission, broke into jubilant dances, signaling their readiness and high spirits.
During the send-off ceremony, CS Murkomen commended the progress of the Kenya-led peacekeeping mission in Haiti, emphasizing its significant role in reducing gang violence.
He noted that the mission had gained international recognition and praise, including acknowledgment from both outgoing and incoming US administrations.
“The Kenya-led mission in Haiti has achieved remarkable progress in curbing gang violence. It has garnered global admiration, and we remain firmly committed to this historic initiative.
Our efforts to mobilize the necessary international support for the mission will continue,” Murkomen stated.
The officers’ unwavering commitment and determination reflect Kenya’s dedication to making a positive impact on global peacekeeping efforts.
