The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has issued a strong warning to all prospective applicants to stay alert and avoid being duped by fake social media accounts pretending to represent the placement service.
In an official statement released on Monday, July 28, KUCCPS raised concern about the growing misuse of its name and logo on online platforms, especially on social media.
The agency specifically called out a Facebook page operating under the name “Kuccps News,” warning the public that this page has no official link to KUCCPS and should not be trusted for any academic updates or application processes.
“KUCCPS has observed with great concern the fraudulent use of its identity online. One particular Facebook page, ‘Kuccps News,’ is impersonating the institution and misleading the public.
We wish to make it clear that this page is not operated or endorsed by KUCCPS,” the statement read.
The agency emphasized that its official name and acronym — KUCCPS — are part of its intellectual property, and any unauthorized use of these identifiers is not only misleading to the public but also against the law.
KUCCPS went on to advise students and parents to be extremely careful when engaging with unofficial platforms. It stressed that any person who interacts with or sends money to these pages does so at their own risk.
The placement body also encouraged those who may have already been scammed to report the incidents to law enforcement agencies for appropriate action.
In light of these events, KUCCPS reminded applicants to rely only on its official communication channels, including its verified website and social media handles, for updates about student placement and other services.
This cautionary message comes just a few days after the KUCCPS online portal was reopened for the inter-institutional transfer window, which runs from July 14 to August 24. During this period, eligible applicants who meet the required cut-off points can request changes to their initial course or institution placements.
Additionally, KUCCPS also reopened the portal to allow Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) applicants to submit their applications for the upcoming September 2025 intake, covering 28 courses that still have available slots. The deadline for KMTC applications is set for Tuesday, July 29.
A collage shared by KUCCPS features students seated at the KMTC Nairobi campus alongside a screenshot of the KUCCPS application portal — a visual reminder that students should only use verified platforms during the application process.
KUCCPS continues to call for vigilance among applicants and the public at large, reiterating its commitment to protecting students from exploitation and ensuring a transparent and secure placement process.
