Drama Claim at Ngong: CS Murkomen’s Stern Address to OCSs
There was drama online today after claims surfaced that Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen “lectured a Police OCS like a child” during a high-profile event in Ngong.
The reports emerged following the closing ceremony of the OCSs’ Consultative Conference at the National Police Leadership Academy (NPLA) in Kajiado County.
Murkomen presided over the closing session, where he delivered a strong speech directed at police station commanders. The CS announced a series of reforms aimed at reshaping how police stations are run and how officers serve the public.
Among the key reforms were new designs for police stations to include gender desks, child protection desks, CCTV systems, and secure armouries.
He also revealed plans to introduce maternity uniforms for female officers, improve ICT equipment in stations, and streamline the promotion process within the service.
In addition, Murkomen said that the government would release the timeline for the recruitment of 10,000 new police officers by Monday, a move he argued would ease the burden on overstretched officers and improve service delivery.
The conference, which brought together OCSs from across the country, was organized to emphasize professionalism, discipline, and accountability in police leadership. Murkomen’s address was notably firm, stressing that OCSs carry the image of the police service and must lead by example.
However, the viral claim that he singled out one OCS and “lectured him like a child” in front of junior officers has not been confirmed by any mainstream or credible media outlets.
While video clips and social media posts have circulated framing the speech in that light, there is no verified evidence of a specific public reprimand targeting a named officer.
What is clear is that the CS delivered tough talk to station commanders, insisting on higher standards of leadership and service. The claim of humiliation appears to be more of an online exaggeration than a documented incident.
