Nancy Ng’etich Appointed Commissioner of Shared Services as Part of Major Reshuffle
The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced three major leadership changes, including the appointment of Nancy Ng’etich as the new Commissioner for the Shared Services Department.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the tax authority explained that the new appointments were aimed at filling critical executive positions while ensuring continuity, accountability, and improved efficiency across the organisation.
“The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) is pleased to announce key leadership appointments as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional capacity, enhance service delivery, and drive organisational excellence,” read part of the official statement.
Ng’etich, who has been acting Commissioner for Shared Services since February 2023, now takes on the role substantively. Before this, she worked as the Deputy Commissioner of Policy & International Affairs in the Customs and Border Control Department.
Over the years, she has played a key role in pushing for customs reforms, advancing trade facilitation efforts, and contributing to negotiations within the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the East African Community (EAC) on customs policy.
Alongside her appointment, KRA confirmed changes in the Large and Medium Taxpayers Department. Former Commissioner Rispah Simiyu, who has been seconded to the National Treasury and Economic Planning, has officially exited her role at KRA after serving for five years.
Taking her place in an acting capacity is Doreen Mbingi, the current Deputy Commissioner for Compliance, East & South of Nairobi Region.
She will temporarily lead the Large and Medium Taxpayers Department until a substantive appointment is made.
KRA congratulated both Ng’etich and Mbingi on their new roles, urging taxpayers and stakeholders to continue offering support and cooperation to ensure smooth operations.
“The Authority congratulates Ng’etich and Mbingi on their appointments and urges all taxpayers and stakeholders to continue extending their support and collaboration,” KRA stated.
Simiyu’s departure marks the end of a significant chapter at KRA. She had earlier served as the Commissioner of Domestic Taxes Department before moving to Large and Medium Taxpayers.
In February 2023, she briefly stepped in as the acting Commissioner-General after the resignation of FCPA Githii Mburu, cementing her as one of the authority’s most influential leaders in recent years.
The reshuffle reflects KRA’s broader plan to reinforce leadership at the top, ensure institutional stability, and deliver on its mandate of revenue collection in an increasingly complex tax environment.
