Ruto and Cabinet Secretaries Announce Fresh Government Appointments Across Key Institutions
President William Ruto and several Cabinet Secretaries have made a fresh round of appointments to different government institutions, boards, and councils, in a move aimed at strengthening leadership across key public offices.
According to a gazette notice dated March 27, President William Ruto appointed Kosiom Frank Ole Kibelejenya to serve as an ambassador within Kenya’s foreign service.
The appointment is part of ongoing efforts by the government to reinforce the country’s diplomatic representation and improve service delivery in the foreign affairs sector.
At the Ministry of Health, Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale also announced a wide range of appointments affecting several major health institutions.
Among the new appointments, Riyak Ahmed Mohamed and Zablon Mokua were named as members of the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital board. The two will serve for a period of three years starting March 27.
In the same ministry, Duale also renewed the term of Catherine Kathure Samwel, who has been reappointed as a board member of Kenyatta National Hospital for another three-year term, effective from March 27.
In addition, Nazim Jiwa Mitha and David Kipchirchir Rotich have also been appointed as members of the Kenyatta National Hospital board, where they will equally serve for three years.
Further changes were made at the Physiotherapy Council of Kenya, where Godana Sora was appointed as the Non-Executive Chairperson.
Alongside the chairperson, Hilda Cheserem, Washington Atho Waindi, Anjali Bajali, Harrison Gicheru, and Wallace Karuguti were also appointed as council members. All the appointees will hold office for a period of three years beginning March 27.
The Health CS also made fresh appointments to the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council. Tonnie Mulli was appointed as a member for a three-year term, while Moses Kiptanui, Marion Mutugi, and Rose Jepchumba Kosgey were reappointed to continue serving on the board for another term.
This move is expected to help maintain continuity and strengthen governance in the medical sector.
At the Mathari National Teaching and Referral Hospital, David Muthaka Ichere was appointed as a board member for the next three years.
At the same time, Bernard Kaparo, Japhet Ouru Ogwangi, and Obadia Kipkurui were reappointed to remain on the board, ensuring experienced leadership remains in place.
Duale also reshuffled the leadership at the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board, appointing Solomon Kariuki, Stanley King’e, Nancy Jabungei, Joel Stephen Mukaya, Josephine Nyabeta, Damaris Katsutsu, and Hashim Musa Haji as members of the Board of Directors. Their term will run for three years from March 27.
In addition, the CS reappointed Hadija Bisharo, Warda Mohamed, Kennedy Kuria, and Safari Kali Kithi as board members of the same institution for another three-year term.
The appointments are expected to boost professionalism and oversight in laboratory services across the country.
Still within the health sector, Lyndah Kemunto Manoti was appointed as a member of the Pharmacy and Poisons Board, where she will serve for three years effective March 27.
The board plays a crucial role in regulating pharmaceutical services and ensuring the safety of medicines in the country.
Meanwhile, in the transport sector, Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir appointed Peter Kibe Maina and Kenneth Limo Toroitich as members of the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) Board of Directors.
Their appointment will run for a period of three years and is expected to strengthen policy direction and road safety oversight.
In the water sector, Cabinet Secretary Eric Mugaa also made a key appointment by naming Beatrice Kanuthu Muchina as a member of the Central Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency Board.
She will serve for three years as part of efforts to improve water infrastructure management and service delivery in the region.
The latest appointments reflect the government’s continued push to fill strategic positions with both new and returning leaders, particularly in sectors such as health, transport, water, and foreign service, where strong governance remains critical.
