Karangu Muraya Mourns Brother Paul Kareithi Muraya as Leaders Send Condolences

Popular Kikuyu gospel musician Karangu Muraya is currently in mourning following the death of his brother, Paul Kareithi Muraya, whose passing has drawn messages of sympathy from leaders, friends, and members of the public across the country.

Among those who have publicly expressed their condolences is President William Ruto, who described Paul as a disciplined and hardworking Kenyan.

In his message shared on Thursday, April 16, the President highlighted Paul’s dedication to his work as a long-distance truck driver and his strong commitment to his family responsibilities and national service through honest labour.

President Ruto said Paul would be remembered for his industrious nature and the values he upheld in his daily life. He noted that Paul represented many hardworking Kenyans who contribute to the country’s economy through demanding jobs that require endurance and responsibility.

He also sent words of comfort to the bereaved family, praying that they find strength during this difficult time and that Paul’s soul rests in eternal peace.

Paul Kareithi Muraya passed away on April 14 while receiving treatment at Mathari Hospital in Nyeri. His death came after a period of prolonged illness that began following a road accident he was involved in on February 17, 2025.

According to the family, the accident left him with serious injuries that required continuous medical care and close monitoring over several weeks.

Despite efforts to manage his condition, his health reportedly continued to deteriorate, eventually leading to his passing while still under medical treatment.

The situation has left the family and close friends deeply saddened, as they reflect on the difficult journey he went through since the accident.

Karangu Muraya also shared an emotional tribute to his brother on social media, expressing his pain and disbelief over the loss. He described Paul as a strong fighter who remained positive even while in hospital, often smiling despite his condition.

In his message, he wrote about how difficult it is to accept that his brother is gone and expressed deep love and lasting memories of their bond.

The news has continued to attract sympathy messages from well-wishers, fans of Karangu Muraya, and members of the wider community who have been sending support to the family during this mourning period. Many have described Paul as a humble and respectful man whose life touched those around him.

As the family comes to terms with the loss, funeral arrangements are currently underway. Meetings to plan the burial are ongoing, with relatives and close associates working together to give Paul a respectful farewell.

The Muraya family is expected to release more details about the final send-off plans in the coming days as they continue to receive condolences from across the country.
