Kenya Power Announces Planned Electricity Outages in Four Counties on Monday, May 4

The Kenya Power and Lighting Company has announced that several areas across four counties will experience temporary electricity interruptions on Monday, May 4, due to planned maintenance works on the power network.

In a public notice released by the power utility company, Kenya Power explained that the scheduled outages are necessary to allow technicians to carry out system maintenance and upgrade electricity lines in the affected regions.

The company noted that the maintenance exercise is part of ongoing efforts to improve the reliability and stability of power supply in different parts of the country.

According to the notice, the planned blackout is expected to last for a maximum of eight hours in most of the affected areas, with maintenance activities beginning in the morning hours.

Kenya Power further advised customers living in the listed areas to make early preparations and plan ahead to avoid inconveniences during the interruption period.

“The listed areas will be affected by planned power interruptions tomorrow, Monday, May 4. The interruption is part of network maintenance activities aimed at improving electricity services,” the company stated in its notice.

The utility firm also encouraged customers to regularly check its online outage schedule for updates and additional information regarding planned maintenance in various regions.

Areas in Nairobi County to Experience Power Interruption

In Nairobi, some sections around Kingara Road will be without electricity from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The areas expected to be affected include Kingara Road, Kingara Close, and nearby customers connected to the same electricity line.

Residents and businesses operating in the area have been advised to prepare for the temporary outage as maintenance teams work on the network.

Parts of Kericho County Affected

In Kericho County, sections of Litein Town will also face electricity interruption from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The affected locations include Kapsenetwet, Chemoiben, Kabartegan, Kapchinchiywet School, Botoni Village, the former PC Cheluget area, and surrounding customers.

Kenya Power stated that the maintenance exercise in the region is aimed at improving the efficiency of electricity distribution and reducing cases of unexpected outages in the future.

Uasin Gishu Areas Listed for Maintenance

Residents living in parts of Uasin Gishu County, particularly Kamoret and Sambut areas, will also experience power interruption from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The areas set to be affected include Kamoret, Kamagut, Sambut, Sunrise, and neighboring customers.

Businesses, schools, and institutions operating within the listed regions are expected to experience temporary disruption during the maintenance period.

Kirinyaga County Also Affected

In Kirinyaga County, Kenya Power announced that electricity supply will be interrupted in Karaini and Old Kangaita areas from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The outage will affect Karaini Market, Kamuruana Village, Mutuma Block, Rutui TBC, Kangaita Kwa Eliud, Old Kangaita Market, Kangaita Primary School, Kangaita Tea Factory, and nearby areas.

Residents in the affected regions have been advised to switch off electrical appliances during the outage period to avoid damage when power is restored.

Kenya Power normally carries out scheduled maintenance works to upgrade aging infrastructure, connect new customers, and improve the overall reliability of electricity supply across the country.

The company has continued to urge customers to remain patient during such maintenance exercises, saying the work is necessary to ensure stable and efficient electricity services in the long run.
