President Ruto Addresses the Nation After Swearing-in of New Judges at State House
William Ruto is today addressing the nation from State House shortly after presiding over the swearing-in ceremony of newly appointed judges.
According to reports, President Ruto oversaw the swearing-in of 37 new judges, including 24 High Court judges and 13 Environment and Land Court (ELC) judges. The appointments were made following recommendations by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
The event marks one of the largest judicial appointments in Kenya’s history and is expected to significantly boost the country’s justice system by reducing case backlogs and improving access to justice.
President Ruto said the expansion of the Judiciary demonstrates the government’s commitment to strengthening constitutional institutions and ensuring timely delivery of justice to Kenyans.
During the ceremony, the President urged the newly sworn-in judges to uphold integrity, professionalism, and accountability while carrying out their duties.
He warned against complacency and told the judges that public office comes with serious responsibility.
“Please take this appointment and this swearing-in very seriously,” Ruto said during the event.
Among leaders present at the State House event were Kithure Kindiki, Martha Koome, Musalia Mudavadi, and other senior government officials.
Reports further indicate that the new appointments will raise the number of High Court judges in Kenya to 115 and ELC judges to 62, strengthening the Judiciary’s ability to handle disputes across the country.
The President is now expected to make additional national remarks from State House, with Kenyans closely following the address for possible announcements on governance, the Judiciary, and national matters.
