Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale and Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba have announced fresh appointments and reappointments to several government institutions, as the government continues to strengthen leadership in key public agencies.

The latest changes, published in a Kenya Gazette notice dated Friday, July 17, introduce new officials while retaining others whose terms have been extended to ensure continuity in service delivery.

According to the gazette notice, Health CS Aden Duale appointed Judith Kobe, Patriciah Mbogoh, Sylvester Ndori, and Abdullahi Adan as members of the Kenya Nutritionists and Dietitians Institute, with their appointments taking effect on July 17, 2026.

The institute plays an important role in regulating the nutrition and dietetics profession, promoting professional standards, and ensuring quality healthcare services related to nutrition across the country.

In the same notice, Duale also appointed Ahmed Salat Fankey as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Public Health Officers and Technicians Council.

He will work alongside a newly appointed team of council members that includes Emily Kirui, Abubakar Jirow, Michael Gillo, Joseph Kilel, James Odera, Halima Gababa, Catherine Kimani, Omar Sigomba, Gertrude Rapongo, and Lukas Edete.

The council is responsible for regulating public health officers and technicians while promoting high professional standards in the sector.

The Health Cabinet Secretary further named Charles Jakait Sangalo as a member of the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC). Sangalo will serve a three-year term beginning July 17, 2026.

The KMPDC oversees the registration and regulation of medical practitioners and dentists in Kenya, ensuring they meet the required professional and ethical standards.

Meanwhile, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba announced several reappointments within the education sector.

He renewed the appointment of Ahmed Ferej as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Curriculum Development, Assessment and Certification Council for another three-year term.

His reappointment is expected to support the council’s ongoing efforts to improve technical and vocational education across the country.

Ogamba also retained several members of the same council, reappointing Mercy Mwaniki, Loice Yator, Rachel Kimani, Florence Suji, Wambua Nyamai, and Joseph Kaberia Arimba for another three years. Their continued service is expected to provide stability and help advance curriculum development, assessment, and certification within Kenya’s TVET institutions.

In another key move, the Education CS reappointed Andrew Rasugu Otachi Riechi and Kibiwott Munge as members of the Governing Council of the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD). The two will continue serving on the council as it oversees curriculum reforms and the development of learning materials for schools and educational institutions.

At the same time, Ogamba appointed Margaret Njaggah as a new member of the KICD Governing Council. Her three-year term officially began on July 17, 2026, and she is expected to contribute to strengthening curriculum development and improving the quality of education in the country.

Elsewhere, Water, Sanitation and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary Eric Mugaa also made changes within his ministry by reappointing Mary Mwiti and Ubah Kahiye as members of the Board of Directors of the National Irrigation Authority (NIA).

Their new three-year terms will take effect from July 20, 2026, allowing them to continue supporting the authority’s work in expanding irrigation and improving food production across Kenya.

The Water CS also appointed Gilbert Bwire Wangalwa as a new member of the National Irrigation Authority Board. He will serve for a three-year term alongside the other board members, helping guide the authority’s policies, projects, and strategic direction.

The latest appointments and reappointments reflect the government’s continued efforts to strengthen leadership in public institutions by bringing together experienced professionals and new members to oversee critical sectors.

The newly appointed officials are expected to enhance institutional governance, improve policy implementation, promote accountability, and support the efficient delivery of public services in the health, education, and water sectors.

Through these leadership changes, the government aims to improve service delivery while ensuring state agencies effectively fulfill their mandates for the benefit of Kenyans.
