Mobius Motors is poised to shut down its business operations in Kenya following a shareholder decision to liquidate the company.
During a meeting held on August 5, 2024, shareholders endorsed the company’s liquidation in accordance with Section 393(1)(b) of the Insolvency Act.
The shareholders have appointed KVSK Sastry as the liquidator to oversee the winding-up process.
Mobius Motors director Nicolas Guibert announced that a creditors’ meeting will be held on August 15, 2024, at 9 a.m. at the Mobius Factory, located at the junction of Sammer Africa, Mombasa Road, and Enterprise Road in Nairobi.
The meeting will consider and potentially approve Sastry as the liquidator, as stipulated under Section 408 of the Insolvency Act.
Guibert also informed that the list of creditors and proxy forms will be available for inspection from August 9, 2024, at the Mobius Motors office in Block C3, Sameer Business Park, Mombasa Road, Nairobi.
The decision to liquidate marks the end of Mobius Motors’ 13-year journey.
Founded in 2011 by British entrepreneur Joel Jackson, the company aimed to cater to the African market with affordable vehicles.
Mobius Motors made its debut with the launch of its first-generation model, Mobius II, in Kenya in 2015.
