Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua recently addressed his supporters in Limuru, following his impeachment by the Kenyan National Assembly.

The decision to impeach Gachagua was driven by accusations of corruption, abuse of office, and alleged involvement in ethnic politics.

Despite his defense and attempts to address these charges in Parliament, Gachagua’s impeachment was widely supported by legislators.

The motion will now proceed to the Senate, where his future in office will be determined.

In his speech, Gachagua maintained that the accusations are politically motivated and intended to tarnish his reputation.

He argued that some of the properties tied to him actually belonged to his late brother, and he condemned the proceedings as part of a “witch hunt.”

The DP also mentioned the public’s economic concerns, suggesting that the government should be focused on issues affecting citizens rather than individual political agendas.

This case has sparked considerable debate in Kenya, with some arguing that it sets a risky political precedent in an ethnically diverse nation.

Political analysts warn that such a divisive decision may strain political unity, suggesting that it could lead to instability in the future if the public perceives it as politically biased.
