Suspected Goons Arrested After MP Kaluma Attack at Agoro Sare

Police officers in Homa Bay County have arrested 16 suspected armed men who are believed to be connected to the violent attack on Hon. Peter Kaluma at the Agoro Sare Primary School polling station during the Kasipul Constituency by-election.

According to a press statement issued by the National Police Service on November 28, 2025, investigators believe the group played a role in the chaos that disrupted the by-election in Kasipul.

The statement noted that after the attack on November 27, police immediately began an intensive search to track down everyone involved in the incident.

Security teams were deployed across different areas, and several checkpoints were set up to ensure the suspects could not escape.

During the operation, officers intercepted five vehicles and two motorcycles suspected to be linked to the group.

The police thoroughly searched these vehicles, leading to the recovery of several crude weapons. Among the items found were 10 pangas, five knives, rungus, and stones—tools believed to have been intended for violence or used in the confrontation at the polling station.

All 16 suspects were taken into custody and are currently being held as investigations continue. Police said the suspects will be taken to court to face various charges once the investigation is finalized and all evidence is compiled.

In its press release, the National Police Service strongly condemned the attack on the MP and the disruption of the voting process. The Service emphasized that such acts of violence undermine democracy and vowed to remain firm in protecting the integrity of elections.

They reassured Kenyans that security operations would continue throughout the election period to deter criminal activities, maintain peace, and ensure that citizens can exercise their democratic rights without fear or interference.

The police also urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies as efforts to restore order and bring all perpetrators to justice continue.
