MPs Approve 15 New Nominees for NG-CDF Constituency Committees
Members of Parliament have given the green light to 15 individuals who will serve on five Constituency Committees of the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF).
The approval, announced on Tuesday, August 12, follows the legal provisions outlined in Section 43(4) of the National Government Constituency Development Fund Act, Cap 414A, and the 2016 NG-CDF Regulations.
These laws guide how committee members are selected and approved to ensure proper management of constituency development funds across the country.
The newly approved nominees will join committees in five constituencies: Isiolo South, Lungalunga, Kuria West, Homa Bay Town, and Kitui South.
According to the National Assembly’s statement, MPs adopted the Report of the Committee on the National Government Constituencies Development Fund, which had been tabled in Parliament on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
The report listed all the recommended nominees for the five constituencies, and MPs voted to endorse them in line with the required legal procedures.
In Isiolo South, five people have been appointed. Kadar Osman Ibrahim and Muktar Hassan Ali will serve as male adult representatives, while Mariam Huka Sama and Biftu Hassan Bure will represent female adults. Halkano Huka Hache will represent persons living with disabilities in the constituency committee.
For Lungalunga constituency, only one nominee was approved — Salimu Bakari Boi — who will also serve as a representative for persons living with disabilities.
The highest number of nominees came from Kuria West constituency, which received a total of seven appointments spread across the three main categories. Chacha Mwita, James Robi Wambura, and Gichere Pius Mwikwabe were chosen as male adult representatives.
Bhoke Christine Nchamah, Maurine Akata Maroa, and Maroa Sophia Robi were appointed as female adult representatives. In addition, Susan Robi Mwita was selected to represent persons living with disabilities in the committee.
Homa Bay Town constituency also got one new appointee — Silas Odero Muta — who will serve as the representative for persons living with disabilities. In Kitui South, MPs approved Timothy Kamwila Muasya as the male adult representative.
This latest approval comes months after an earlier exercise on March 5, when Parliament endorsed several nominees to join 100 Constituency Committees across the country. That move was aimed at filling the leadership gap left after the mandate of the previous 290 NG-CDF committees expired.
At the time, 190 constituencies had not yet submitted names for consideration, and the remaining 119 constituencies were urged to speed up the process of forwarding their proposed committee members to the NG-CDF Board.
Once submitted, the names undergo vetting before being presented to Parliament for approval.
By law, NG-CDF committees play a key role in ensuring that funds are managed transparently and projects are implemented effectively in their constituencies.
The latest round of appointments now allows the five constituencies to move forward with development planning and project execution without delays.
