Dadaab Member of Parliament Farah Maalim has strongly denied accusations that he called for violence against young protesters during recent anti-tax demonstrations.

In a video posted on his X page, Maalim refuted claims that he advocated for the “slaughtering of Gen Z,” asserting that the viral video misrepresented his stance.

“I never called for the death of any Kenyans. I didn’t and I will never call for it,” Maalim stated emphatically.

He described the video as edited and misleading, distancing himself from the controversial remarks attributed to him.

Maalim, a seasoned politician with over 30 years in Kenyan politics, emphasized his integrity and commitment to his principles.

“I am a very honest person. For over 30 years, I have been in the politics of this country. I am one person who has had a track record that is matched by very few people,” he said.

He added that his political philosophy has remained consistent since he first entered parliament in 1992 as an opposition MP with Ford Kenya.

Despite the controversy, Maalim remains confident in his popularity among his constituents.

“When it comes to votes, I will go back to my constituency. Everybody knows my popularity on the ground. You don’t have somebody who has been here for 30 years who gets elected again now. But I am there and I will come back until I decide to retire,” he asserted.

The controversy erupted after a video surfaced online showing Maalim allegedly saying that if he were President, he would have “slaughtered 5000 of them daily” in response to irate youth breaching Parliament Buildings.

Maalim has firmly denied making such statements, insisting that the video does not represent his views.
