There was high drama in Trans Nzoia County on Wednesday when Sirende Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Alfred Weswa found himself at the mercy of agitated residents who forced him to walk on a muddy road.

In a video curculating the internet, the visibly annoyed constituents made the MCA abandon his vehicle and trudge through the mud as a form of protest against his failure to fix the dilapidated road.

The residents chanted angrily, though their words were inaudible, and some even splashed muddy water onto Weswa’s car.

This incident is part of a larger wave of nationwide protests advocating for better leadership.

Driven primarily by the youth, these anti-government demonstrations initially began as protests against the Finance Bill 2024 but have since evolved into a broader movement demanding significant changes in President William Ruto’s administration.

The persistent demonstrations have already led to notable shifts, including the dissolution of the Cabinet and the scrapping of budgetary allocations for the offices of the First Lady, as well as the spouses of the Deputy President and the Prime Cabinet Secretary.

Despite these developments, young Kenyans remain resolute, continuing to take to the streets to ensure their other demands are met.
