Former Cabinet Secretaries Mwangi Kiunjuri and Moses Kuria recently shared a meal together amidst significant government changes.
Kuria, in a post on his X handle, revealed that Kiunjuri had taken him out for lunch shortly after he missed out on a Cabinet slot in President William Ruto’s new lineup.
Kuria reminisced about a similar gesture he extended to Kiunjuri in 2020 when the latter was dismissed from his position as Agriculture CS under Uhuru Kenyatta’s regime.
“On January 14, 2020, my friend Festus Mwangi Kiunjuri was fired from Cabinet. On that day, I took him out for lunch. Today, my brother has returned that favour. It was a good lunch. Asante Mwangi,” Kuria shared.
Kiunjuri, who currently serves as the Laikipia East Member of Parliament, expressed solidarity with Kuria, who lost his position as the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service following President Ruto’s decision to dissolve his entire Cabinet on July 11.
This move sent all Cabinet Secretaries and the Attorney General home, marking a significant reshuffle in the administration.
Last week, President Ruto unveiled the first batch of 10 new Cabinet Secretaries, leaving 11 positions still vacant.
Prime Cabinet Secretary and CS for Foreign Affairs Musalia Mudavadi retained his position, ensuring some continuity in the government amidst the broader changes.
