MPs have directed the New Kenya Co-operative Creameries (KCC) to stop supplying milk to President William Ruto’s office, the First Lady’s office, and other government agencies over unpaid debts totaling KSh 183 million.

The State House alone owes KSh 14.62 million, while the First Lady’s office has an outstanding debt of KSh 3.07 million.

During a recent parliamentary session, Co-operatives Principal Secretary Patrick Kilemi informed the Trade Committee that these unpaid debts have significantly hindered KCC’s ability to operate effectively.

Notably, other major defaulters include the Ministry of Defence (KSh 49.49 million) and the Administration Police Service (KSh 32.38 million).

The committee, chaired by Embakasi North MP James Gakuya, emphasized that KCC should not allow these financial issues to affect payments to farmers.

Gakuya criticized the continued supply of milk to agencies with overdue payments and stressed that KCC is a business and should act accordingly.

This situation has sparked concern, as the delayed payments have also impacted dairy and coffee farmers, leading to calls for urgent debt settlement by the government agencies involved.
