The recovery of bodies from the tragic fire at Hillside Endarasha Academy has begun, following the arrival of homicide detectives who took over the scene to retrieve the remains.
According to reports from the academy, a team led by homicide officer Martin Nyuguto has cordoned off the site, restricting access, even to the media, as they begin the delicate process of recovering the bodies of students who perished in the dormitory fire.
The recovery team, which includes both detectives and morticians, arrived at the site early at 9 a.m. They held a morning briefing to coordinate the day’s operations, which primarily focused on recovering the bodies still trapped in the dormitory.
Mr. Nyuguto, while not revealing all the details, hinted at some crucial activities that the team would undertake, signaling that the forensic experts would be retrieving more bodies today.

“Yesterday, we couldn’t make much progress as we were focused on addressing the needs of parents and families,” Nyuguto stated, asking the media to leave the school premises to provide space for the investigators to carry out their work.
On Friday, grieving parents who visited the school were allowed to view the scene of the incident to help with their emotional closure.
Meanwhile, Kenya Red Cross officials continue assisting in reuniting students with their families.
In response to the tragedy, Pope Francis expressed deep sorrow, describing the incident as a “calamity” that has profoundly shaken the nation.
He extended his heartfelt prayers for the families of the victims and entrusted the souls of the deceased children to the “loving mercy of Almighty God.”
The Pope’s message has resonated widely, underscoring the immense grief felt by the entire nation after the loss of 18 young lives in the tragedy.
