Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko recently made headlines by appearing in court wearing a balaclava to show support for University of Nairobi students who were arrested during protests.

The students had been detained amid demonstrations addressing various grievances affecting the university community, including rising tuition fees and inadequate facilities.

Sonko’s bold choice of attire was a statement in itself, drawing attention to the plight of the students and their ongoing struggle for their rights.

By donning the balaclava, he aimed to symbolize solidarity with the students, many of whom feel marginalized and unheard by the authorities.

His appearance in court was not just a show of support but also a call for action regarding the treatment of young people in Kenya.

In his remarks, Sonko emphasized the importance of listening to the voices of the youth and engaging in peaceful dialogue between the government and the student body.

He urged the public not to speculate about the reasons behind the protests or the circumstances of the students’ arrests, advocating instead for understanding and constructive conversation.

The protests, which have gained momentum in recent weeks, highlight critical issues that resonate with many students across the country.

Rising tuition fees and the lack of adequate resources have sparked frustration among students, prompting them to take to the streets to demand change.

Sonko’s appearance has sparked numerous satire comments on the internet,
