Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua faced challenges during his visit to Embu for a church service marking the 34th anniversary of the ACK Diocese.

Gachagua’s attendance was marred by the absence of key regional leaders, including Embu Senator Alexander Mundigi and Governor Cecily Mbarire, who have recently shifted allegiance toward Interior CS Kithure Kindiki.

event highlighted political tensions as only a few allies showed up to support him, reflecting his waning influence in some circles following his impeachment.

After this incident, Gachagua traveled to Kajiado, where he held meetings with close allies to consolidate his political base.

Despite the setbacks in Embu, Gachagua remained defiant, emphasizing his commitment to the Mt. Kenya electorate and criticizing those he termed as “betrayers.”

His allies, including former Laikipia MP Cate Waruguru, praised his resilience and called for renewed efforts to defend the region’s interests amid growing political divisions within the ruling coalition.

Gachagua’s political troubles have elevated his status among some Mt. Kenya residents, with analysts suggesting he could emerge as a “hero” in the region.

However, his future depends on whether he can effectively rally his dwindling support base and counter the ongoing political realignments against him.

The Kajiado visit is seen as part of a broader strategy to rebuild his network and remain politically relevant ahead of the 2027 elections.
