Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has issued a stern warning to President William Ruto, cautioning him against engaging in betrayal and autocratic leadership.

Gachagua’s remarks come amid escalating tensions between the two leaders, following his impeachment and subsequent claims of personal endangerment.

Gachagua has accused President Ruto of reviving the politics of betrayal, urging him to avoid such practices.

He has also labeled Ruto’s leadership as autocratic, criticizing the president for treating ministers as mere ‘flower girls’ without substantive roles.

Following his impeachment, Gachagua alleged that his state security was withdrawn, leaving him vulnerable.

He stated, “I want Kenyans to know that as I go home, I have no security. If anything happens to me or my family, President Ruto must be held accountable.”

The former deputy president’s impeachment was marked by significant parliamentary support, with 281 MPs voting in favor and 44 against.

The charges included corruption and supporting anti-government protests, which Gachagua has denied, describing them as politically motivated.

In response to these developments, President Ruto has emphasized the need for national cohesion and an end to tribalism and exclusion.

However, he has not directly addressed Gachagua’s allegations or the specifics of the impeachment proceedings.

The political landscape in Kenya remains tense, with Gachagua’s warnings and accusations highlighting deepening rifts within the nation’s leadership.

As the situation unfolds, the implications for Kenya’s governance and political stability continue to be closely monitored.
