Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula has recently faced criticism for his remarks against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala.

Savula accused Gachagua of promoting tribalism and division in Western Kenya, urging his arrest for allegedly preaching hate.

He also criticized Malala for attempting to split the Luhya community, labeling him a “reject” who was “rejected by the people of Kakamega.”

In response to Gachagua’s statements encouraging the Luhya community to abandon former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Savula called for unity and cautioned against divisive politics.

He emphasized the importance of leaders focusing on uniting the country post-election, rather than engaging in rhetoric that could incite division.

Savula also criticized Gachagua’s analogy of the government as a private company favoring its shareholders, asserting that all Kenyans have equal rights regardless of their political affiliations.

These exchanges highlight the ongoing political tensions in Kenya, particularly concerning the unity of the Luhya community and the broader national cohesion.

Savula’s outspoken stance reflects a call for inclusive governance and a rejection of tribalism, urging leaders to prioritize the well-being of all citizens over partisan interests.

The situation underscores the challenges in achieving national unity amid diverse political perspectives.
