President William Ruto and Deputy President Kithure Kindiki recently addressed a large gathering in Kakamega County, marking their first joint public appearance in the region since Kindiki’s swearing-in.

The event aimed to reassure residents of the government’s commitment to inclusive development and national unity.

President Ruto emphasized that his administration would serve all Kenyans equally, regardless of political affiliations, stating, “We will serve those who voted for us and those who did not vote for us equally.”

This visit followed the impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who was removed from office by Parliament on charges including corruption and incitement of ethnic divisions.

Gachagua’s impeachment highlighted internal conflicts within the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and strained relations between him and President Ruto.

During Kindiki’s swearing-in ceremony, President Ruto expressed confidence in his new deputy’s ability to articulate government programs effectively, a role he felt was previously unmet.

He remarked, “I need your voice. I need your intellect to help me and members of our cabinet to profile and articulate the things we are doing.”

In Kakamega, Deputy President Kindiki pledged to work diligently to ease the burden on President Ruto and serve all Kenyans faithfully.

He stated, “I will serve under you and provide you with the assistance and support you require to take this country to the next level. I will be loyal and faithful.”

The leaders’ visit to Kakamega County underscored their commitment to fostering unity and development across all regions of Kenya, aiming to bridge any divisions and promote a cohesive national agenda.
