Uproar as 300 Kenyans Almost Lose Ksh4.5 Billion Property Scam in Kajiado

Kenyans eager to purchase land in Kajiado have been warned to be cautious of fraudulent land deals that could lead to long-lasting ownership disputes.

This caution comes amid a heated land dispute involving members of the Emboliloi Group Ranch Sacco in Isinya, Kajiado County.

The members allege that one of their own deceitfully claimed ownership of land valued at Ksh4.5 billion, leaving the rest of the group dispossessed.

The dispute centers around 200 acres of land co-owned by 300 Sacco members. Allegations have surfaced that one member manipulated the land’s ownership records, transferring the title deed into their name without consulting or notifying the rest of the members.

According to the Sacco members, the individual used fraudulent methods to process the ownership transfer.

They claimed the person obtained land documents and had the title registered in their name through questionable dealings with the county government.

There are fears that the individual now intends to sell the land without the consent of the other members.

Sacco members have publicly warned potential buyers to steer clear of any transactions involving the disputed property, stating that any such deals would be null and void.

“This is a warning to everyone. If you choose to buy land from those claiming to sell under the Sacco’s name, you will be risking your money.

We, the Sacco members, are the rightful owners, and we are not selling. Anyone who engages in a deal here is bound to lose their investment,” said Richard Ole Tembe, one of the affected members.

The Sacco members have directed their frustrations at the Kajiado County government, accusing it of colluding with the alleged fraudster.

They have demanded intervention from Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku to ensure justice and the rightful ownership of the land is restored.

“The truth is, title deeds like this can only be processed through the county offices. However, this is not county land—it belongs to us, the Sacco members.

The county has no authority over it,” emphasized Sacco Chairman Peter Ole Meeli.

In response, the Kajiado County government has denied any involvement in the scandal. Kajiado Land Minister Hamilton Parsaini confirmed that attempts had indeed been made to transfer ownership of the land to an individual.

However, he assured the public that the county successfully blocked the transfer and launched an investigation into the matter.

“We intercepted the fraudulent transfer because the land had been illegally subdivided in one person’s name. Investigations are ongoing, and anyone found guilty will face the law,” said Parsaini.

Contrary to the claims made by the Sacco members, Parsaini maintained that the land in question is public property, owned by the county and not the community.

This conflicting stance has only fueled the controversy further, leaving the 300 Sacco members determined to fight for what they believe is rightfully theirs.

The land row continues to spark outrage, with many calling for more stringent measures to protect innocent Kenyans from falling victim to such schemes.
