KUCCPS Portal Opens for 2024 KCSE Graduates to Apply for College and University

KUCCPS Opens Portal for University and College Applications

All students who sat for the 2024 KCSE exams now have 21 days to apply to colleges and institutions of their choice.

This follows an announcement by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), which opened its online application portal on Friday, January 24, 2025.

The portal will enable students seeking admission to Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions to apply early. The application window is set to close on February 14, 2025.

In a statement signed by the KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Agness Wahome, the agency revealed that it has introduced a phased application process for the first time.

The new approach allows students applying to KMTC and TVET colleges to prioritize their March intake applications.

“The placement service has for the first time adopted a phased application process starting with Kenya Medical Training College and TVET institutions.

This will ensure students enrolling for the March intake apply in good time,” part of the statement read.

Dr. Wahome explained that universities and Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) generally conduct their intakes later in the year, whereas KMTC and TVET institutions admit students in January, February, and May.

To ensure a smooth and timely transition for students, KUCCPS found it necessary to implement this phased application system.

Additionally, KUCCPS announced that candidates who completed their KCSE exams between the years 2000 and 2024 are also eligible to apply for KMTC and TVET slots.

The agency has encouraged applicants to choose institutions located within their home counties to minimize costs, as this would make commuting or living arrangements more affordable.

Students aspiring to pursue degree courses and TTC programs have been advised to remain patient, as the application dates for these categories will be announced separately.

KUCCPS has assured that the respective application windows will be communicated in due course.

For students who plan to retake their KCSE exams in July, KUCCPS clarified that they will have an opportunity to apply for admission into KMTC and TVET institutions during the September intake, provided they meet the improved grade requirements.

To guide students through the process, KUCCPS has urged them to visit the official application portal at students.kuccps.net or the KUCCPS website.

These platforms provide comprehensive guidelines, a list of available programs, institutions, and their respective entry requirements.

Dr. Wahome also cautioned students to avoid falling victim to fraudsters who may pose as intermediaries claiming to assist with applications.

She emphasized that the only legitimate platform for applications is the official KUCCPS portal.

To further support applicants, KUCCPS staff will be deployed across all 47 counties to offer hands-on guidance at designated institutions.

Students can also visit Huduma Centres nationwide to receive assistance with their applications.

Out of the 962,512 candidates who sat for the 2024 KCSE exams, only 246,391 scored a C+ and above, qualifying for direct university entry.

This leaves an estimated 605,774 students expected to seek admission into TVET institutions this year.

By implementing this structured application process, KUCCPS aims to ensure a seamless transition for students as they pursue their educational and career goals.
