A man has shared the heartbreaking details of his last conversation with his wife, who was on the American Airlines flight that tragically crashed into the Potomac River after colliding with a military helicopter.

The crash, which occurred near Ronald Reagan Airport in Washington, DC, involved an American Airlines plane carrying 64 passengers and a Sikorsky H-60 Black Hawk military helicopter with three US army soldiers.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, January 29, and has left families and the public in shock as they await further details.

The commercial flight, American Eagle Flight No. 5342, was en route from Wichita, Kansas, to Washington, DC. It collided with the military helicopter while preparing to land.

According to BBC News, 19 bodies have been recovered so far, but many passengers are still missing. The crash is even more painful because several members of the US Figure Skating Association were aboard the plane, further heightening the tragedy.

Among the many families affected is Hamaad Raaza, whose wife was on the flight. He shared the last moments of their conversation before she went offline, revealing his deep sorrow and hopes for her safety. In an interview with WUSA9, Hamaad recounted that his wife had texted him, saying they were about to land in 20 minutes.

However, when he tried to reply, the message didn’t go through, and that’s when he began to fear something was wrong. He said, “I’m just praying that somebody is pulling her out of the river right now as we speak. That’s all I’m praying to God.”

As Hamaad waits for any news, his emotional plea has sparked an outpouring of support from people around the world.

Many netizens have been sending their prayers and words of encouragement, hoping that Hamaad’s wife and all the victims of this devastating accident will be found safe.

Comments flooded social media, with users like Carolradull offering prayers, saying, “Heartbreaking 💔.

Praying for this man and all affected 🙏🏼🥺,” and Milan_candie_curlz writing, “Dear Lord, we pray that this man’s wife is found safe and alive! 🙏🏾.”

Other users expressed sympathy, with Brandiransburg saying, “I want you to have your wife back as well.

You’re being so strong right now. 🫶🏾,” and Ajkimb stating, “God, please send your power to these people during this time.”

The tragic event has left many feeling devastated, as expressed by Chakabars who commented, “This is so saddening,” and Carol Roline, who wrote, “So heartbreaking… May God take control.”

Others like Kimweno Barchok shared, “Nothing hurts more than this,” while Otom Millicent added, “Painful! Heartbreaking 😭😭,” and Latifah Salmah offered, “May God see you through.”

As the search for the missing continues, the world holds its breath, hoping for a miracle and sending strength to the grieving families.
