4 Ruto’s Closest Allies Demand CS Justin Muturi’s Resignation Over Government Criticism

Ruto’s Key Allies Demand CS Justin Muturi’s Resignation Over Government Criticism

Four close allies of President William Ruto, all members of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), have called for the resignation of Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi.

The leaders, including Environment CS Aden Duale, criticized Muturi for his recent remarks about the government’s handling of abductions, arguing that his comments were inappropriate and undermined the administration.

Over the weekend, while visiting the North Eastern region, Duale publicly condemned Muturi’s stance and urged him to step down if he was dissatisfied with the government.

He insisted that a Cabinet Secretary should show loyalty and respect to the President rather than engage in public disputes.

“I want to remind our colleagues that leadership comes with responsibility. If you are privileged to serve as a Cabinet Secretary and you are unhappy with the government’s direction, the honorable thing to do is resign,” Duale stated.

He further criticized Muturi for what he termed as an unnecessary confrontation with President Ruto, arguing that such actions were unacceptable.

Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruyiot also rebuked Muturi’s comments, accusing him of fueling tribal divisions while attacking the government. Speaking in Mandera, Cheruyiot dismissed Muturi’s allegations and insisted that the Kenyan people want a government that promotes fairness and equality for all.

“Those attempting to push divisive narratives will fail because Kenyans are enlightened. The citizens of this country demand a leadership that serves everyone fairly, without bias,” he declared.

Meanwhile, National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah weighed in on the matter while addressing a gathering in Embu, Muturi’s political backyard. He accused the CS of needlessly criticizing the government and called on him to refrain from lecturing the President and other top leaders.

“Some individuals enjoy pontificating and pretending to be experts in governance. They lecture the President, the Deputy President, and the entire leadership on how things should be done. Please, spare us and give Kenyans a break,” Ichung’wah asserted.

Mogotio MP Reuben Kiborek also joined in, pointing out that the issue of abductions did not start recently.

He argued that when Muturi served as Speaker of the National Assembly, he had ample opportunity to address the problem but failed to take action.

The growing calls for Muturi’s resignation follow his recent outspoken stance against the rising cases of abductions and forced disappearances in Kenya. He has been the only Cabinet Secretary to openly challenge the government on this issue.

His criticism intensified on Friday after the bodies of two of the four missing brothers from Kitengela were discovered, further fueling concerns over security and human rights violations.

Despite the backlash from his colleagues, Muturi has remained vocal, demanding accountability over the disturbing trend of disappearances.
