Babu Owino and Ndindi Nyoro Ranked as Top-Performing MPs in 2024 by Infotrak

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro have emerged as the best-performing Members of Parliament in 2024, according to the latest survey by Infotrak.

Owino secured the highest rating with a score of 72 percent, closely followed by Nyoro, who attained 71 percent. The rankings were published in the Elected Leaders Performance Index released on Wednesday, February 12.

Infotrak stated that the performance ratings were based on a survey conducted between November and December 2023. The research firm gathered responses from residents across different constituencies and counties to determine the rankings.

The data also revealed other MPs who performed exceptionally well. Kabuchai MP Joseph Kalasinga and Kathiani MP Robert Mbui tied at 62 percent, placing them among the top five.

Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba, Sirisia MP John Waluke, and Mumias East MP Peter Salasya followed closely, each scoring 61 percent. Mbooni MP Erastus Nzioka also received a 61 percent rating.

Additionally, MPs who scored 60 percent included Danson Mwakuwona of Wundayi, John Bwire of Taveta, Caleb Amisi of Saboti, and Benson Mulu of Kitui Central.

Best-Performing Senators of 2024

In the Senate category, Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo and Kirinyaga Senator Kamau Murango were ranked as the best-performing senators of the year, each scoring 52 percent.

Murang’a Senator Joe Nyutu and Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah followed with a rating of 50 percent, placing them in the third position.

Omtatah, who was ranked the best senator in 2023, dropped to third place despite his prominent role in the Gen Z movement that pushed for leadership and governance reforms last year.

Nyandarua Senator John Methu and Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka scored 49 percent, ranking them in fifth and sixth positions among the top 10 Senators.

Other senators who scored between 46 and 48 percent included Enoch Wambua (Kitui), Godfrey Osotsi (Vihiga), Joseph Githuku (Lamu), Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot (Kericho), Prof. Tom Ogienda (Kisumu), Karungo Thangwa (Kiambu), and Samson Cherargei (Nandi).

Top Woman Representative

Meanwhile, Njeri Maina has maintained her position as the best-performing Woman Representative in the country, according to the Infotrak report.
