Ruto Orders Crackdown on Land Grabbers Across Kenya

President William Ruto has launched a nationwide crackdown on land grabbers in a bold move aimed at stopping the illegal displacement of rightful landowners. Speaking in Kwale County on Tuesday afternoon, the President directed security agencies in all counties to take swift action against individuals who have fraudulently acquired land.

During the event, Ruto issued 6,247 title deeds to residents across three sub-counties in Kwale, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to securing land rights for all Kenyans. He made it clear that the government would not tolerate land grabbing, emphasizing that no Kenyan should lose their land to fraudsters.

“I want to send a strong warning to those who take land that does not belong to them—this will no longer be allowed. Every Kenyan has a right to their land, and security agencies must act immediately to stop these illegal activities. Land grabbing is against the law, and those involved must face justice,” Ruto declared.

The President further criticized those who unlawfully invade private land with the hope of getting compensation from the government. He stressed that such fraudulent activities would not be tolerated, adding that every Kenyan must respect the law when it comes to land ownership.

His remarks were supported by Lands Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome, who reiterated her ministry’s commitment to resolving long-standing land injustices in Kenya. CS Wahome praised the government’s dedication to tackling the issue of land grabbing and ensuring fair land distribution.

“The distribution of these title deeds is proof that we are serious about addressing historical land injustices. Every Kenyan deserves to have legal ownership of their land, and we are working to make that a reality,” CS Wahome stated.

She also assured Kenyans that the government is taking deliberate steps to ensure that land tenure is secured, which will empower communities and promote sustainable development.

In addition to addressing land issues, President Ruto used the event to launch the Diani Affordable Housing Project. He explained that the project is part of the government’s broader plan to reduce the housing shortage in the country while also creating employment for local youth.

“Our goal is to ensure that every Kenyan has access to decent and affordable housing. I encourage young people to take advantage of the job opportunities created by this project,” Ruto said.

The housing project is expected to stimulate economic growth in the region by creating new jobs and boosting local businesses, aligning with the government’s agenda of economic empowerment and infrastructure development.
