CS Muturi Dismisses Fake Resignation Letter, Affirms Commitment to Government

Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Justin Muturi, has dismissed as fake a resignation letter circulating on social media that falsely claims he has stepped down from his position.

The letter, which allegedly bore his signature, suggested that Muturi was resigning due to challenges in his ministry that had made it difficult for him to effectively carry out his duties.

“Serving in government has been a great honour, and I sincerely thank His Excellency President William Ruto for the opportunity to be part of his administration.

However, due to unforeseen challenges in executing my role effectively, I feel it is in the best interest of all involved that I take a step back,” read a portion of the fake letter.

However, Muturi has strongly refuted these claims, making it clear that he has no intention of resigning. He reaffirmed his commitment to his role, stating that he remains fully dedicated to serving the people of Kenya.

“I categorically state that this letter is fake and should be disregarded. I remain fully committed to serving the people of Kenya in my capacity as Cabinet Secretary, working to strengthen our public service and enhance human capital development,” Muturi wrote on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday.

Muturi also urged Kenyans to be cautious and avoid falling for misleading information spread online.

“Let us all be vigilant against misinformation intended to mislead the public,” he warned.

Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV, the CS emphasized that he has no plans to resign, despite calls from some leaders within the government urging him to step down.

Addressing speculations about a possible fallout with President Ruto, Muturi maintained that there was no valid reason for him to quit his position. He dismissed allegations of insubordination, insisting that he remains confident in his role within the Cabinet.

The controversy surrounding his resignation rumors arose after he publicly criticized the government over the rising cases of forced disappearances.

His remarks drew backlash from leaders allied to President Ruto, who accused him of going against the Kenya Kwanza agenda.

During a confession on January 12, Muturi revealed that his own son had been a victim of a forced disappearance and was only released after he personally contacted the president. His statement fueled further tension within government circles, with some leaders calling for his resignation.

Despite this, Muturi remains steadfast in his position, reiterating that he will continue serving the country and working towards improving public service.
