Ruto Criticizes CS Muturi, Calls Him Incompetent

President William Ruto has strongly criticized Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi, branding him as incompetent. Muturi, who previously served as Kenya’s Attorney General, was called out by the president for allegedly lacking the necessary skills to handle legal matters.

Speaking on Tuesday evening during an Iftar dinner with Muslim leaders at State House in Nairobi, Ruto accused Muturi of delaying the establishment of a Waqf—a religious charitable endowment in which a Muslim donates property for religious, charitable, or public purposes.

The president assured the Muslim community that under the leadership of the new Attorney General, Dorcas Oduor, the government would ensure that the commission responsible for Waqf is finally established.

“As we move forward, we will continue looking into the concerns raised here, especially those regarding education. We need to create a balance between religious and formal education to determine the best approach,” Ruto stated.

He further admitted that the Waqf issue had taken too long to be addressed and blamed the delays on Muturi. “I agree with you that the Waqf matter has been unnecessarily delayed. There is no valid reason for the delay.

The former Attorney General was not competent enough to handle it. However, now I have a very capable lady in charge, and I assure you this issue will be resolved,” Ruto declared.

His remarks came after several Muslim leaders requested his intervention, expressing frustration over the prolonged delays in setting up the Waqf fund.

Muturi, on the other hand, has not shied away from criticizing Ruto’s administration. He has been vocal about the government’s failure to address critical security concerns, particularly the rising cases of abductions in the country.

Recently, while addressing the media, Muturi dismissed rumors that he was considering resigning from his Cabinet position. He insisted that he remains committed to holding the government accountable.

Speaking on Friday, March 21, the former Attorney General emphasized that he would not remain silent in the face of injustice. He also made it clear that stepping down from his role would not solve the country’s problems.

“Why should I resign for simply speaking the truth? If there is a mistake, I have a duty to call it out and stand in defense of Kenyans,” Muturi said while addressing journalists.
