Video of Slain Kasipul MP Charles Predicting His Death Surfaces

Just hours after the tragic killing of Kasipul MP Charles Ong’ondo Were, a disturbing video has emerged showing him warning that his life was in danger.

In the resurfaced footage, the late legislator expressed deep concerns for his safety and claimed that some individuals were plotting to eliminate him.

MP Were was fatally shot on Wednesday, April 30, near the City Mortuary roundabout in Nairobi. Eyewitnesses say the killers—two men riding on a motorcycle—had been trailing the MP before one of them disembarked and shot him at close range. The attackers then fled the scene quickly, leaving behind shock and confusion.

Although the reason behind the brutal killing remains unknown, a series of videos have now come to light where the MP had previously raised alarm over threats to his life. In the clips, he even named certain people he believed were behind the threats.

Unlike many cases where such warnings are ignored or dismissed as exaggerations, Were’s fears now appear tragically valid. His statements were not born out of paranoia—he genuinely believed that his life was hanging by a thread.

In one particular video, the late MP made a passionate appeal to local security authorities, asking for immediate protection. He revealed that he had received multiple warnings that he would be assassinated.

He spoke of secret meetings that were allegedly being held at night, attended by goons and Members of County Assembly (MCAs), where they reportedly plotted to disrupt functions he attended.

Their plan, according to Were, was to create confusion and then use the chaos as a cover to kill him.

“The people causing trouble here are known criminals, and we know exactly who they are. Just last night, there was a meeting at 8 p.m. between some of these goons and local MCAs.

They were planning how to stir up trouble at any public event I attend, then create enough commotion to shoot me in the process,” the MP warned in one of the videos.

In another incident he recounted, Were described how he was targeted on his way back from a funeral.

He claimed that the road was blocked deliberately to stop his vehicle. Fortunately, his security detail acted fast and managed to save him from harm.

“This was not the first attempt on my life,” the MP explained in the video. “There was an earlier incident where my convoy was blocked while coming from a funeral.

And even at another funeral the next day, before I could speak, one of the known goons interrupted, saying I would not be allowed to talk, and chaos erupted again.”

His warnings paint a picture of a man who knew he was being hunted and had desperately tried to raise the alarm, only for his worst fears to come true.

MP Caleb Amisi, while paying tribute to his fallen colleague, recalled a chilling exchange they had earlier that day inside Parliament.

Amisi said they had shared a light moment, laughing and chatting, but Were’s final words to him hinted at something ominous.

“I was with my colleague earlier this afternoon at Parliament. We laughed, had a short conversation, and then he told me, ‘I need to talk to you… things are not good.’

Those were his exact words. Just five hours later, I received the devastating news that he was gone. It’s truly heartbreaking,” Amisi shared.

The shocking death of MP Charles Were has left the nation in mourning and raised serious concerns about the safety of elected leaders.

Many Kenyans are now calling for a thorough investigation into his murder and protection for other leaders who might be facing similar threats.
